A trace to one inch of snow fell in the last 24 hours. At 5 a.m. west to southwest winds are blowing at 5-10 mph and 20 mph in the Bridger Range. Mountain temperatures are a few degrees either side of 0F, but will warm into the high teens with winds remaining light. Mostly cloudy skies will produce a few flurries, but no accumulation is expected. High pressure builds through the week and by Friday a Rex Block forms, a fortress of dry air.

Last night the mountains around Cooke City picked up 1-2 inches of new snow with the rest of our area getting a trace. Temperatures are near 10F this morning with light east to north winds blowing at 5-10 mph. Today will be partly to mostly cloudy, winds will be calm and temperatures will rise into the mid-20s. Light flurries will continue today and tonight, but only add up to an inch or two at most.  Looking towards the weekend there are no major storms on the horizon.

A mostly stable air mass remains over the area producing light winds and partly to mostly cloudy skies. This morning, temperatures range from the mid-teens to low 20s F and winds are swirling 5-10 mph from all directions. Today, increasing clouds and moisture begin to push into the area as a weak storm system approaches from the west. Temperatures will only a warm a few degrees during the day and winds will pick up slightly blowing 10-15 mph out of W-NW. Light snow develops tonight and the mountains should see 1-2 inches by tomorrow morning.

High pressure has produced clear skies and light to moderate winds over the past 24 hours. This pattern has also created a significant temperature inversion.  At 4 a.m. valley temperatures are in the single digits above or below zero while mountain temps range between 10-20 degrees above zero. Today, high pressure will remain over the area producing sunny skies and relatively calm conditions. Daytime highs will warm into the upper teens to mid-20s F and winds will blow 5-20 mph out of the W-SW.  

Over the past 24 hours the mountains south of Bozeman picked up 1-2 inches of new snow. This morning mountain temperatures are in the single digits above or below zero and winds are blowing 10-20 mph out of the W-NW. Today, a northwest flow will keep temperatures cold and highs will struggle to climb into the double digits above zero F. Skies will remain partly cloudy and winds will continue to blow 10-20 mph out of the W-NW. No new snow is expected over the next 24 hours.   

The mountains received 2-3” of snow in the last 24 hours. Winds overnight were southerly around 10 mph and temperatures were in the single digits F. Today will be mostly cloudy with a chance of 1-2” of snow. Temperatures will climb to the low teens by late morning, and drop to negative values tonight. Calm easterly winds and cold temperatures today will make for a frosty Christmas.

Temperatures are in the single digits F this morning. Winds overnight were out of the W-SW at 10-15 mph with gusts reaching 20-30 mph. Since yesterday morning, Big Sky and Bridger Bowl received 4 and 8 inches of low density snow, respectively. Other areas recorded only a trace. Today, wind will continue to blow out of the southwest around 15 mph with gusts in the 20s. Temperatures will reach the teens F. If you’ve all been nice, the mountains will get a couple more inches of snow by Christmas morning.

Last night 3-4 inches fell in Big Sky and Bridger Bowl which was in addition to the 1-2 inches that fell everywhere early yesterday morning. Winds are currently blowing W-SW at 10-15 mph with gusts of 25 mph. Temperatures this morning are in the single digits and will rise into the low 20s under mostly cloudy skies. Scattered showers today will only drop an inch of snow with westerly winds blowing 10-20 mph at the ridgetops. Cold temperatures, flurries and light winds are on the docket for the next couple of days.

In the last 24 hours the southern mountains picked up close to a foot of new snow. In the northern mountains the Big Sky area got 2-4 inches with 1-2 inches falling everywhere else. Winds have been westerly and strong; blowing 20-40 mph with an occasional gust reaching 50-60 mph. Temperatures are currently in the teens and will warm into the mid-20s this afternoon. Today will be cloudy with snow showers and decreasing winds. By tomorrow morning I expect another 2-4 inches in the mountains.

Overnight the mountains near Big Sky, West Yellowstone and Cooke City picked up 4-5 inches of low density snow. Currently, temperatures range from the single digits to mid-teens F and winds are blowing 15-35 mph out of W-SW. Today, snow will continue in the mountains south of Bozeman with 2-4 inches possible during the day. The mountains around Bozeman could see 1-2 inches. Temperatures will warm into the 20s F and winds will continue to blow 15-35 out of the W-SW. Moisture will continue to be ushered into the area on a westerly flow, producing more snow tonight and tomorrow. The mountains south of Bozeman could see an additional 4-6 inches tonight while the Bridger Range should see 2-3 inches.
